What happens when the lights suddenly go out?

Not for a few hours, but for days or even weeks?
Recent natural disasters are a powerful reminder of how quickly access to electricity and other basic infrastructure can be disrupted.
From the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, to the catastrophic flash floods in Nepal, and earthquakes, floods and tropical cyclones in the Philippines, communities can suddenly find themselves without reliable power, safe lighting or basic services.
In these situations, light is much more than a convenience.
A reliable, independent source of light can help families move around safely after dark, allow children to continue reading and studying, and reduce dependence on candles, kerosene or other temporary lighting solutions.
Solar light is a remarkably simple technology — but in communities with limited or disrupted access to electricity, something simple can make a meaningful difference. ☀️
That’s one of the reasons we love introducing teams to the topic of energy poverty through our SolarBuddy corporate volunteering events "The Hour of Power".
During the event, corporate teams learn about energy poverty, assemble solar-powered lights together and donate them to communities where access to safe and reliable lighting can make a meaningful difference.
Because sometimes understanding the value of something starts by imagining life without it.
